Message from Andrew Morgan - Leader RCT Council

Dear Parents/Guardians

As a Council, we recognise this is an anxious time for ourcommunities with the continuing of restrictions ondaily life andincreasing rates of Covid-19 again throughout RCT. We arerespectfully asking and remindingparents/guardians to helpminimise the transmission of coronavirus at every opportunity, including bycontinuing to observe social distancing outsideschool grounds and by wearing a face mask if possible, in linewiththe Council’s advice to residents issued on Thursday, Sept 10th.

Whilst we do recognise that it is important that children are able tosocialise responsibly and outdoor activityis vital for theirwellbeing, we are urging all parents and guardians to please bemindful of where your childrenare, who they are with and whatthey are doing when outside of school, particularly in eveningsand onweekends. Restricting the number of social contacts, maintaining social distancing and promoting effectivehygiene areessential to reducing the risk of transmission.

You will be aware that there has been a significant increase inpositive cases across Wales and RhonddaCynon Taf over recentweeks and each and every one of us needs to play our part inminimising the spread ofcoronavirus in our communities. Pleasetake extra care and stay safe.

Due to the significant increase and spread of Covid-19 in RCT,from tonight, the new enhanced measuresintroduced by theWelsh Government will come into effect across RCT. To helpminimise any possibletransmission, please observe socialdistancing outside of the school grounds and wear a face mask ifpossible,in line with the Council’s advice to residents issued onThursday, Sept 10th. If your children are out playingduring theevenings or weekends, please be mindful of who they are withand what they are doing.

Restricting the number of social contacts, maintaining socialdistancing and promoting effective hygiene areessential toreducing the risk of transmission.

The next review of the Welsh Government restrictions will be in 2weeks’ time and, if we are to see thesemeasures reduced or evenremoved, then we all need to play our part in minimising thespread of coronavirusin our communities and keeping everyonesafe.
