Please arrive at school at 7.45am on Friday ready for an 8am leave.

We will be leaving Weston at 4pm promptly from the designated drop off point.

  • Healthy and Eco Week

Thu 20 Jun 2019 Mr Lewis

We will be holding our annual Eco and Healthy Week during the week beginning the July 1st. The children will be taking part in many activities and we would love for you to join in with us.

On Monday 1st of July the children will be taking part in mindfulness activities in addition to us holding an ‘Earth Hour’ where we will knock all classroom lights off to consume energy.

On Wednesday we would like all children to take part in ‘Walk to School Wednesday’, the class who has the highest amount of participants will each receive a prize. Also, on Wednesday we will be experimenting with a ‘No Paper’ day where the schools photocopier will be turned off and the children will be taught using a ‘No Paper’ approach.

On Thursday we would love all of our parents to take part in the ‘Daily Mile’. This will consist of completing one mile, either walking, running or skipping with your child. We would like to invite all infant parents in at 9.30 to the Junior Yard and all Junior parents to the Junior Yard at 2.30. A mile equates to 8 laps of the yard.

Throughout the week we will also be making some healthy snacks with the children. In order to cover the costs of materials and resources we kindly ask for a small donation of £1. Please can this be sent in with your child or given to their class teacher.

In addition to these activities our eco council will complete a daily eco register Children will collect points for various things including having a water bottle, some sun protection, a piece of fruit for break and for having walked, biked or scooted to school. The points will be made in to a percentage figure to make it fair and the class with the biggest percentage won an extra playtime.

All classes will participate in lessons based on healthy eating, recycling and looking after the environment.

We would also like the children’s packed lunch to have as little plastic as possible during this week. Reusable plastic is fine but think about where non-recyclable plastic can be used by reusable materials.

We would like to thank you for your continued support and look forward to working with you.

Announcing The Big Draw Festival 2018 Award Winners!

    #BDFAwards #TheBigDraw #Play18

The Big Draw is thrilled to announce the winners of the international Big Draw Festival Awards 2018/19. The Big Draw Award winners have been selected by a distinguished jury from a shortlist of projects that took place as part of Big Draw Festival 2018 celebrating ‘Play’. Every year, The Big Draw Festival Awards celebrate drawing and creativity without borders.

Organisers, including schools, libraries, museums, artists, local councils and community centres thrilled our panel of judges and The Big Draw team with their fun, unique and experimental approaches to the theme 'Play', giving Big Draw Festival visitors opportunities to try their hand at animation, pendulum swing drawing, Japanese drawing methods, illustration and everything in between.

The ingenuity of organisers’ events demystified the idea that 'play' isn't just for kids, opening doors to the potential of drawing for the fun of it for hundreds of thousands of participants worldwide.

More importantly than ever, with the continued decline of arts provision for all in education, The Big Draw commends all schools who demonstrate the power of drawing and creativity, not only across the curriculum, but within their communities! The staff and students of our 3 school winners this year are leading lights to show the importance and impact of a creative education.

Alongside the 6 panel selected awards, The People’s Choice Award (inaugurated in 2017) is decided entirely by public vote. From over 250 nominations received, with a massive 20% of the public vote, the 2018 People’s Choice Award winner is 24H Drawing Lab, Rome, Italy. Take a look at our People's Choice Award page for all projects to receive a nomination for their Big Draw Festival events in 2018 and how to vote for your favourite in 2019!

From applications received from all over the world, The Big Draw would like to thank everyone who applied for the awards and took part in The Big Draw Festival 2018. It was a truly dynamic year. Without further ado...
